About the National Wells Index

The purpose of the National Wells Index is to protect heritage related to the history and fabric of Holy Wells. To do this we:

Research and publish on Holy Well sites and traditions, and provide additional educational resources.

Create and maintain a database of known sites.
Campaign and provide resources and advice to save at risk sites.
Maintain an archive of Holy Well literature and ancialliary materials.
Seek to raise the profile of Holy Wells and their associated history.
